Biltmore Estate | Film | Vacation

A couple of weeks ago my husband and I set off for a week long vacation to celebrate our 5-year anniversary. We were overdue for a little time away. To put things into perspective, the last time we went somewhere just for us was the weekend we got engaged…6+ years ago! It is tough to plan anything with my husband’s work schedule so taking a trip to Biltmore Estate was the perfect spot. Close enough to drive but far enough away that we felt we were getting out of town.

We had both been to the house┬ábefore, but not together and decided to stay right on the property. The┬áVillage Hotel just opened in December. The room still smelled new! It is a quaint hotel with a very homey interior. The best part? It is located just steps from the winery, several shops and restaurants. And the breakfast. Let’s take a moment and talk about that. It was included in the package we booked and it was delicious! It was a sit down meal every morning and there was a full menu of items to choose from. Hands down my favorite was the caramel pancakes with fresh bananas and cinnamon whipped cream. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

I decided to leave my digital camera behind and capture our trip only on film. I haven’t had the chance to use my Contax too much and this was the perfect time to use it. My husband was happy because I wasn’t spending all my time lagging behind trying to take an image of everything. With film, it allows you to slow down, take in your surrounding and really be selective on what to capture. Hope you enjoy your visit to the Biltmore Estate through my lens!
