Chantee + Felix were coming in from out of state for their elopement. They were originally going to go to the courthouse and just have some portraits taken after outdoors. Chantee misses the deciduous trees where she lives now and after chatting with her for a bit, I suggested to find an officiant and get married outside with those pretty trees she misses surrounding them. This way they were able to have those pictures of the ceremony and portraits after.
Plans were set for the big day. The ceremony and portraits were going to take place at a park in Virginia Beach. The day arrived and the weather was not in our favor! It wasn’t just raining, but raining hard and a LOT of it! The streets were flooded and the park was under water. There was not the opportunity to reschedule. A Holiday Inn in Virginia Beach came to the rescue! I was second shooting for a wedding awhile back and we ended up doing a first look in the loft area of that hotel. I remember it having decent light with the large, glass windows. The staff was so kind to allow us to use their space. Life saver!!! For a last minute option it worked out great. No one bothered us up there.
It was a family affair. Chantee was able to do a first look with her dad. The mother-of-the-bride made the bouquet and Felix’s boutonniere. They also brought in a cake they planned to cut at dinner later that evening. Chantee made her own headpiece and birdcage veil. Crafty chick! Even though it wasn’t outside, Chantee still was able to have a tree in view during the ceremony. The rain foiling their plans may have turned moods upside down, but Chantee + Felix were nothing but smiles and laughs!
