Philadelphia Engagement | Elfreth’s Alley + Race Street Pier | Jennifer + Mike

A few weeks ago I traveled to Philadelphia for Jennifer + Mike’s engagement session. They recently moved there and wanted to capture this special time in their lives where they were living. Such a great idea! They were so helpful in giving me tips on great lunch locations before the session (because when you are in Philly one must eat a philly cheese steak), where to park and areas safe for me to book a hotel. We started right outside the front door to their apartment with their cutie-patutie of a puppy, Jaime. They live in an up and coming area with super cool pedestrian corridors within the surrounding blocks. Very cool! After they changed clothes, we Uber’d it to Elfreth’s Alley. This alley is known as the oldest continuously inhabited road in America. Then we walked a couple of blocks over to Race Street Pier. I love it when city’s take an unused, industrial space and make it functional again. It was modern and had a gorgeous view of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. Afterwards, we walked a few blocks down from their apartment and got to know each other more over tapas and sangria. I had such a wonderful time with them and am really looking forward to their June 2016 wedding at the Hermitage Museum!

Founders Inn | Virginia Wedding |Caroline + Ethan

The day of Caroline + Ethan’s Founders Inn wedding was supposed to be a windy and rainy all day long. And it was, for the most part. Even though the ceremony was moved inside, the Founders Inn has a gorgeous atrium that has beautiful, natural light, making it a wonderful indoor option! Note to you brides: it is always good to have a great backup plan incase it rains. Your wedding photographer will thank you! After the ceremony we popped our heads outside and to our pleasant surprise it had stopped raining and we have absolutely gorgeous, cloud filtered light. PERFECT for portraits! Not sure how we got so lucky.

Caroline + Ethan are such a sweet and caring couple. Both of their families were so warm and welcoming. A true joy to work with. Enjoy a sampling from the day and do not miss their portraits. Some of my favs!!!

Westin Virginia Beach Town Center | Wedding | Stacy + Eric

Stacy + Eric were married at the Westin Virginia Beach Town Center. The ceremony and ballroom were beautifully decorated with white draping and a gorgeous crystal chandelier above the center of the ballroom. Their black and white theme with gold accents was the perfect palette for this classic wedding. Their vendors really know how to put a room together! Stacy looked absolutely stunning on her wedding day and Eric was looking dapper in his stripped bow tie. They ended their reception with Stacy changing into a super cute dress that fit their theme and riding off into the night in a rickshaw adorned with over sized balloons. Such a fun alternative as a grand exit!

Thank you, Stacy + Eric, for giving me the opportunity to capture the events of your day. I wish you two so much joy in your new life as husband + wife!

Oceanaire Resort Hotel | Wedding | Virginia Beach | Shannon + Brian

Sometimes weather doesn’t cooperate. Shannon + Brian’s wedding at the Oceanaire Resort Hotel in Virginia Beach was one of those days. It sprinkled during the ceremony but that didn’t stop these two from saying “I do” on the beach, over looking the ocean, under the most gorgeously decorated arch! And then the rains came. I am not sure what would have happened if the day was not being organized by Sunkissed Events. Let me tell you, those ladies are amazing! With the chaos of the rain and people needing to be shifted from one place to another over several floors of a hotel they made it look easy (and I can guarantee it was not a small task).  Unfortunately, due to the pouring rain, portrait time was cut very short. However, these two had already set up another session this spring and I can not wait to get them back in front of my lens and spend extra time capturing the sweetness they have for each other!

Despite the weather, the ceremony and reception were wonderful and their guests looked like they were having a great time. My absolute favorite part of the day was seeing grandma and grandpa dancing. I was a little emotional behind my camera watching them. Shortly after, I was heading to the restroom and grandma was in front of me. She made a comment to me that that was so much fun and they use to dance all the time together. So touching and so very sweet!

Shannon + Brian, thank you for allowing me to be part of your special day. Can’t wait to see the two of you again this spring!

The Water Table | Virginia Beach | Wedding | Jenny + Scott

Jenny + Scott were married on a beautiful day at The Water Table in Virginia Beach a few weeks ago. Sunkissed Events and Design was on hand to keep everything running smoothly (and making sure the precious flower girl and ring bearers got down the aisle).

The story between Jenny and I started 4.5 years ago. Except I didn’t know it at the time. During our first meeting, Jenny slipped in that she was at my wedding. Yep! You read that right. I looked back through my reception photos and sure enough, there she was! My husband and I were married in Miami, Florida and one of his cousins wasn’t able to come last minute. Cue the maid of honor, Emily. Emily is also one of my husband’s cousin. Jenny had traveled down to Florida with Emily to make a little vaca out of it. Since she knew one of the relatives was not attending Jenny was Emily’s date. Fast forward to my meeting with Jenny + Scott, Jenny didn’t even know I was the bride at the wedding she attended in Florida when she came across my website. Once she read my bio she started putting things together.  Small world! So in the end, we evened the score and crashed each other’s wedding, in a sense. 🙂

Jenny + Scott’s wedding day was wonderful. The guests looked out over the water with beautiful boats as a backdrop during the ceremony and then enjoyed the awesome entertainment of Three Sheets To The Wind. That band was amazing!!! If you are looking for a little yacht rock they are your guys! The couple brewed their own beer as favors, too. If you are a pet lover you are not to miss their custom bottle labels and their cake topper. So darn cute. All the best to Jenny + Scott as Mr. + Mrs.! Thank you for letting me “crash” your day with my camera!
