Bohemian Styled Shoot | Sevens Springs | Virginia Wedding Photographer

When Chelsea, of Orchestrated Shoots, contacted me to ask if I wanted to officially photograph this bohemian inspired shoot I immediately said yes. Such an honor! After my first time participating in an Orchestrated event I knew that this one would be nothing short of amazing to photograph. I was not disappointed. The vendors that were involved are top notch in the area! The gallery was first exclusively published over on Tidewater and Tulle, which you can check out here.

Now, lets take a moment and talk about the location for this particular shoot. Seven Springs. The moment I walked on the property and into the main house I knew it was going to be a good day. I fell insantanly in love with this venue. The historic house has been been thoughtfully updated, while maintaining the integrity of the house’s history and value in mind. I want to move in. And the best part, there are sheep on the property! This place is the quintessential spot for couples who have a love for history but looking for a space to make their wedding their own. I hope I am lucky enough to be hired to photograph a wedding there. Ah! So in love with that place.

Enjoy some of my favs and peruse the vendors involved at the end. They will not disappoint you on your wedding day!

Wedding Photography Giveaway

A new year and a new outlook. As 2015 turned over to 2016 I sat down and thought about what my goals were for this new year, both personally and professionally. Last year my husband was on deployment for 7 months. I am looking forward to having him around this year and our journey to adoption getting closer. On the professional side of things, I am looking forward to a few projects I have lined up. One project in particular that I hope will take my business to another level. I can’t share that just yet but I am bursting at the seems to do so!

As I wrote down my thoughts for 2016 I found the words ‘give back’ on the list. At first I didn’t know what that meant, but it was something I felt the need to put on paper. I knew I wanted to give back professionally. When I was first starting out….well, lets back up. I was a girl with a camera at that point. A photographer in South Florida, Becca { <– check it out, she is amazing }, I was acquaintances with asked me what kind of photography I wanted to pursue. When she asked me that question, I didn’t have an answer. I felt I needed to experience the specialties that photography offered before I knew. Becca extended me an invitation to come along with her to a wedding. When she was starting out she said she could not find anyone who would allow her to tag along and she wanted to pay it forward. Her kindness and generosity will never be forgotten. I am not sure if I would’ve gotten into wedding photography if she had not invited me to join her. Even though I was super nervous and didn’t know what I was doing (or how involved and stressful photographing a wedding can be), I remember how much I loved being there.

When I was planning my own wedding, I was on a budget. Every bride knows what I am talking about. There were times I found a vendor or something I really wanted to incorporate into the wedding, but it was out of my price range. Wedding photos are one of the only things you have left, after your wedding day. Those photographs and albums are the things you pull out to show friends and that you pass down to future generations. They are heirlooms. Your wedding day is something you can not rewind. I hear, repeatedly, from married women, how they wish they had spent more on their wedding photographs or how they wished they had more in the budget to hire someone professional.

Becca’s story, and mine, have inspired me to “give back”. And what better way to do that, than to give away a wedding photography package! You read that right. Go back and re-read it. I promise you, that is what I stated! One lucky couple will have their wedding day photography covered, paid in full! Now for all the details and how you can win this once-in-a-lifetime collection…

Wedding Portraits | 2015

AH! My favorite part of the wedding day. Portrait time with my brides + grooms! It is such a sweet time. Full of love, smiles and happiness. How lucky am I to be able to do a job I love, surrounded by happy people and capturing the moments shortly after a pair of love birds became husband + wife!? Beyond fortunate! No matter how many hours I am on my feet running around for 8+ hours or when my back aches after a wedding day or sitting behind the computer for hours at a time, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love my clients and I love my job. I appreciate the trust my clients put into me and allowing me to be creative….and for putting up with me when I repeat “ok, just one more”! Here is to a wonderful 2015 and cheers to what is to come in 2016!

Bouquets + Boutonnières | 2015

Next on our tour of 2015 are bouquets + boutonnières! Fresh flowers are some of my favorites things. There are some talented floral designers out there and they deserve much more credit than they get. A lot of long hours and hard work go into making the florals perfect for their clients. I remember the moment my wedding bouquet arrived where I was getting ready. I was so excited to see what my florist had done! There is a photograph of my bridal bouquet hanging in our bedroom. Enjoy some of the fresh flowers that were delivered to my clients on their wedding day this past year!

Cakes | 2015

Every client has their own unique style and their wedding cakes are no exception. Some had traditional cakes, cupcakes or no cake at all. That is what is great about a wedding. There are no rules. You can customize the entire theme to fit your style. Enjoy all of the yummy desserts I saw (and tasted on occasion) from this past year! When you have been on your feet and working non-stop for 8-9 hours and are offered a piece of cake before you leave….well, that is music to my hears!
