I have been holding on to these these images for a few months now and am so excited to finally be able to share them! When Becky from Roost Flowers asked me to photograph a small urban reception shoot she was putting together, I instantly said yes. I have been a fan of Becky’s work for awhile now and this wasn’t the first time working with her on a shoot.
This styled shoot was a little different than a normal wedding themed event. It’s focus was on community and the farm-to-table movement and how one can incorporate those values into a wedding reception or rehearsal dinner. Roost Flowers’ shop is located next to Commune, a local, sustainable cafe. They grow some of their vegetables right behind the restaurant. Continuing with the local theme, Becky invited our local Virginia Beach West Elm to participate. They were gracious enough to accept, provide us with some wonderful table decor from their store (which you can purchase!) and sent two stylist from the store to put it all on display.
Now, if you have been to my home, you will quickly discover that I am a huge fan of the Williams-Sonoma family of stores. I have many pieces from Pottery Barn and West Elm displayed in my home. I have a hard time walking into any of those stores without walking out with something. It’s a problem! Since this shoot was focused in a different direction we needed to think outside of the box on this one about where to submit it for publication. Last week a dream came true for me (as the other vendors involved) when some of the images from the shoot were published on West Elm’s own blog, Front + Main! When I opened their blog and saw them published, I couldn’t even breath, I was so excited! You can view their post HERE and more of the images from the shoot below. Vendor love at the end!
